The 2011 Next Step program will take place June 1-5 in Washington, DC!

Applications for Next Step 2011 are now closed.

Next Step was born out of the realization that while there are a variety of training programs for high school and college age women, there was a need for a professional development program for young women who have already broken into their careers and who are trying to determine their next step.  Our program is an opportunity for women to gain exposure and training in the political arena and better understand the host of careers available to them.

The Next Step Program Directors are political strategists, media gurus, Congressional staffers, advocacy leaders and other women who are established in their careers and committed to providing the next generation of young women with guidance, knowledge and skills.

What we do:

Next Step is a bipartisan professional development program geared towards young women aged 23-27 with 2-4 years of work experience and a passion for politics.  Our purpose is to provide practical, hands-on training aimed at developing professional confidence and fostering the advancement of the next generation of women political leaders.  These women can expect to leave the program self-assured with a thorough understanding of the professional political environment.  We are the bridge to help women get from where they are to where they want to be.

Running Start thanks the George Washington Graduate School of Political Management for their generous support of the 2011 Next Step Program
